About Us

What is a Bahari? by Melissa Bradley
First I would like begin by telling you what a Bahari is not:
We are not feminists.
We are not all vampires.
We are not just sadomasochists.
We do not worship Lilith.

Bahari are not easily explained; some say Bahari are simple infernalist cults, while others give us more gracious titles whose meanings are the same. Nevertheless I will give you my opinion as to what the Bahari are. We are called Bahari or singularly Ba'ham, because we are the fruit of the Mother's third and final garden. We are the enlightened; we are not bound by clan or kine. We take what we can, learn from it, and try to educate others along the way. We plant seeds of knowledge and nurture them, a far cry from the sadistic deviants so many portray us to be.

Lilith beckons us to suffer—just as she did—and learn from it. Only through this suffering are we brought into the fullness of understanding. While some amongst Caine's get hold that we despise all vampires, the truth is we simply do not waste time or effort on those who do not have an overwhelming desire that allows them to suffer, change, and grow. Bahari are teachers, torturers, and lovers to those we deem worthy and able to achieve enlightenment.

We do not pursue worldly wealth or power, for wealth comes from within not from materialistic gain or political importance. We do not feel sorry for those we inflict pain and suffering upon; pain and suffering only further one on their path to enlightenment. Death to the Bahari is simply change; death comes to all, even the Lhaka know that one day our existence will end. We don't go out of our way to kill. After all, if one is dead, how can they have a chance to transcend?

Being Bahari is far more than being able to inflict pain — and yes, we do use pain, but we use it as a means to an end. Only when our eyes are opened can we truly see what Lilith holds before us. Only when our ears are open can we hear the song Lilith sings. Only when our arms are spread wide can we embrace what Lilith is offering. In agony, all of these can be achieved. In a precious moment our senses are fully awakened, and one can begin to experience what it truly means to be Bahari.
